Mayor and Commissioners:

This letter is intended to supplement the letter Save Our City sent to you on February 21, 2015.

We are pleased with the progress you have made in addressing noise in residential neighborhoods, as well as the proliferation of large homes (“mini-hotels”) built in residential neighborhoods for the express purpose of rental to large groups of vacationers for strictly commercial purposes.

In particular, we encourage you to pass ordinances which

    • Limit the size of new houses with pools in R-1 and R-2 Districts to maximum of 4500 square feet.
    • Reduce the maximum lot coverage in R-1 and R-2 Districts to 40 percent for new houses with pools and for existing houses if an owner applies for a permit to install a pool, in order to increase green space.
  • Reduce the floor-to-area ratio of new houses with pools and for existing houses if the owner applies for a permit to install a pool.
  • Increase the number of required parking spaces for houses with more than four bedrooms or four bathrooms.

Thank you for your continued consideration of these issues.

Sincerely,

Save Our City
