Dear Neighbors:

The City of Rehoboth Beach has always been known as a special city, one that provides a unique quality of life for its residents, property owners, businesses and visitors.

From time to time the City needs to make upgrades and improvements to existing buildings and operations. Now is such a time. Our wastewater treatment system is out of date, and the City is under a court order to ensure our wastewater does not continue to flow into the Inland Bays. Our 50 year-old City Hall, Police Department and administrative offices are inadequate and woefully lacking in modern technology.

On a Saturday in June, the City will hold a Special Election to authorize the City to obtain the $71 million necessary to finance these crucial projects. Your support for these projects is crucial to the future of Rehoboth Beach.

Please join Save Our City and your neighbors for dinner at 6:30pm Saturday, May 16 at the home of Kate and Bunky Markert, 520 New Castle Street Ext (corner of Old Bay Road) to learn more about the special election from Mayor Sam Cooper and other city officials.

They will discuss:

  • the need for the projects being considered
  • the construction schedules for them
  • the financing plan
  • who is eligible to vote
  • and other details of the special election.
