THE REHOBOTH BEACH COMMISSIONERS unanimously approved a resolution to pursue a $450,000 loan from the Delaware Clean Water Advisory Council for a rerouting of the sewer system in the Schoolvue neighborhood.
Mayor Sam Cooper said per city charter, the commissioners need to approve a resolution to finalize borrowing the money. The term of the loan will be 10 years at 3 percent interest.
The project will reroute 1,900 feet of sewer lines that currently run under houses. City officials have said should those lines clog or back up, there is no way to repair them.
Cooper said a start date has not been finalized yet, although the city is targeting the end of the year for bidding and starting early next year.
