Mayor & Commissioners' Meeting Dec. 20, 2013

The Mayor and Commissioners met on Friday, December 20, 2013. All commissioners were present except Commissioner Hunker.

Chief Banks gave the report of the Police Department, noting the arrest of an individual charged with four attempted burglaries in December.

Among other actions, the Mayor and Commissioners:

Unanimously approved an amendment to the lease for the Rehoboth Beach Museum, which has the effect of forgiving the $125,000 balance of a $250,000 loan extended to the Historical Society for Phase 1 construction in 2008. This will allow the Museum to move forward on Phase 2 of the construction.

Approved an amendment to the City code section regarding restaurants to clarify and establish that, in all cases, adding, enlarging or modifying a restaurant patio is an extension and/or modification of the premises of the restaurant. This arises after a lawsuit against the City in which the Court stated the code was not clear, and allowed the extension of a restaurant patio the city had previously denied.

Granted a Permit of Compliance to operate the Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille at 52B Rehoboth Avenue (the location of the former Irish Eyes). This will be a second location in the City for the Greene Turtle.

The next meeting of the Mayor and Commissioners will be a workshop meeting at 9:00am on January 6, 2014.
